THE Shop at Bromsberrow was filled with the sound of happy hammering on Valentines Day, which is also the start of National Nestbox Week as youngsters and adults alike joined in building their own nestboxes. The nestbox kits, which were supplied by RSPB Gloucestershire along with hammers and nails, just needed nailing together to produce a strong wooden nestbox which will last for many years.

Volunteers from RSPB were on hand to help with the nestbox building, as well as giving advice on where to put the box in the garden, and selling merchandise. The event raised £130 for the RSPB and there will be 16 extra nestboxes round the village for birds to nest in.

Shop manager, Rachel Hicks said “It was wonderful to hear the shop filled with the banging of hammers and the sound of laughter as customers worked out how to make the nestboxes and nailed them together. Following the success of this event we will be offering The Shop at Bromsberrow as a venue for other charities to promote themselves as we have plenty of space and a café offering refreshments.”
