COOKING among young people is a valuable life skill.

In the Young Chef Competition contestants prepare and present a three course meal with a pre-set budget and with a time limit which is judged by an expert panel.

Megan Heeley, a pupil from Lady Hawkins School, Kington and sponsored by Leominster Rotary Club was competing in the semi-final of the Young Chef Competition. Held at the Gloucester College, Cheltenham Campus on January 13 she was competing against other students from the Rotary District.

The standard was exceptionally high and Megan was awarded a certificate for showing imagination and skill.
