MEMBERS and supporters of Ledbury Food Group packed the Market House Café in Ledbury recently for their first supper celebrating local food. Chef John Devine showed how easy it is to create a great meal from food produced and sourced locally. Guests enjoyed a splendid feast of slow cooked Herefordshire beef served with local vegetables, followed by Herefordshire apple dumplings in a cider sauce or artisan bread and butter pudding using locally produced bread.

Guests were welcomed with a glass of wine from new local producer Sixteen Ridges made locally in Putley using grapes from the banks of the River Severn in Worcestershire. Norman Stanier from Once Upon A Tree gave a talk on the birth of this new wine and their aspirations to use Herefordshire grapes in future years. Chef John explained to diners the sourcing and cooking of all the components of this wonderful meal.

Griff Holliday, acting chairman of the group said, "Thanks to excellent food and service from Heather and Alan Tookey and the Market House Café team, much noisy conversation, and clean plates, the evening did what it set out to do – celebrate the wonderful local food of Ledbury and district."
