STUDENTS at Wigmore School have been practicing their aim thanks to the purchase of four sets of netball posts following a successful application to the Kingspan Insulation Community Trust.

Over the last few years student participation in extra-curricular activities at the school has increased; this is due to the investment in new equipment, and funding to bring in external sports coaches, all of which could not have been achieved without the repeated help from the trust.

Kit Williams, PE teacher at Wigmore, commented “We are extremely grateful for all the funding we have received over the last few years. We have been able to develop strong links with Luctonians, and have seen a direct impact this has had on the boys’ rugby and cricket teams and we now felt it was time for the girls to get some benefits.”

“We submitted an application for funding to the Kingspan Insulation Community Trust to purchase four sets of netball posts to be used on our outdoor courts. This new equipment has enabled us to safely and successfully cater for more girls on extra-curricular club nights, which has in turn improved our participation numbers.”

John Garbutt, chairman of the trust, said “Improving the health and fitness of young people through healthy recreation is extremely important to us. That is why the PE Department at Wigmore School has been lucky enough to receive numerous grants over the past few years, and it’s been great to see the positive impact this funding has made on the pupils.”

The Kingspan Insulation Community Trust provides funding to projects within the catchment areas of Wigmore High School, Lady Hawkins’ School, Earl Mortimer College and Tenbury High School in Herefordshire and Worcestershire and the Parish of Sherburn-in-Elmet in North Yorkshire.
