ST NICHOLAS Church is a charming little building nestled in the heart of Checkley, and as is the case with many rural churches, relies on local fundraising to help ensure its survival.

To this end, in 2013, church warden, Bob Hall hatched an idea to produce a calender which would celebrate the heritage of the area. With the help of locals, Bob sourced photographs and put the plan into action.

The initial print run for the 2013 calendar was 120, and Bob was delighted to sell out completely by the end if the year.

This year a similar theme has been used for the Checkley Heritage Calendar 2015 and locals have contributed precious memories from their photographic archives to contribute to the project. Amongst the contributors this year were Ann Bourne, John Harris, Nanda Cooper and the Green family.

The print run has also been increased - to 150 and it is hoped that once again, the calendar will be popular with locals and visitors alike.

The calendar is now available for £5 by contacting either Bob Hall at randphall@gmail.com or Helen Owen on helenrowen@btinternet.com.
