MRS Pat Galliers recently held Patty's Poppy Picnic at her home in Townend, Presteigne. Pat sold picnics and organised activities including a treasure hunt, guess the weight of the cake, name the teddy, and guess the amount of sweets in the jar. A 'whisky roll up' was later held at the football club due to the weather being inclement on the day. Pat would like to thank everyone who worked so hard to make the day such a success. Also thank you to the many businesses who donated prizes.

The picnic was opened by The Royal British Legion Clubs women's section president, Mrs Emily Crowe. In attendance was life member, Mrs Glenys Lister, Mrs Wood, a poppy seller for many years and Cllr Garry Banks from Powys County Council. A grand total of £425 was raised in aid of this years poppy appeal. The Exultation was spoken and two minutes silence was observed.
