THE photograph shows some of the trophy winners at the recent garden show held in Wellington in August. The annual show, which is open to members of the garden club and to all residents of Wellington, attracted a lot of interest in both entries and visitors. Despite the weather not having been good to the gardeners this year the standard of entries was high and numbers were on a par with last year and in some classes were actually up. The flower arrangers interpreted the titles imaginatively and again, entries were up. The entries in the non gardening classes, such as cookery, craft and photography also held up well. Members do always try and encourage the young within the village too - the gardeners of the future.

The garden club usually meets on the third Thursday in the month at 7.30pm in the community centre and visitors are always welcome. The year is almost at an end with only the AGM in October and social evening in November to come, however the 2015 programme has something for everyone. Why not come and join in - look out for the notices on the village page of the Hereford Times next year.
