TEDDY BEARS PICNIC SUCCESS - A teddy bears picnic took place in Little Dewchurch Village Hall on July 12, and managed to raise £510 for Newlife Foundation for Disabled Children.

The event was organised by great grandparents Barbara and John Wilson.

It included a craft stall, cake stall and raffle with youngsters and adults sitting down to enjoy cream teas with their teddy bears.

Barbara said she was delighted with how the day went.

She said: “Four years ago I underwent a knee replacement operation and while in hospital looking at magazines I found out about Newlife Foundation. It is a fantastic charity that buys essential equipment for disabled children so I started making soft toys for them. I wanted to go one step further so we decided to hold a teddy bears picnic and it was fantastic.

We had loads of people come along and they all really enjoyed themselves because we had lots of events to keep them entertained.

It couldn’t have gone any better.”

Newlife Fundraising Manager Nora Smith said: “We are very grateful to Barbara and John for organising this fundraising event.

To raise more than £500 is a fantastic effort. The money will be used to buy an essential piece of equipment for a child, equipment that really will change that child’s life.”
