A MID Wales motor club recently presented £100 cheques to both the Knighton First Responders and Bishop's Castle First Responders as a result of money raised from a renowned road rally they organise every year.

Knighton Motor Club donated the money following another hugely successful staging of the Pacemaker Stages Rally back in July and as well as being delighted to make the two donations, there was also another reason for club members to raise a smile.

For the fourth time in the last eight years, the Pacemaker Rally was voted the 'best road rally' by the Association of West Midlands motor clubs, an award that is actually the 11th Knighton Motor Club has won for this event in the past decade.

Speaking about the award, club chairman Mike Ammonds said: "We're very proud of the reputation the Pacemaker Rally now has and were delighted to win the West Midlands award for the fourth time.

"The rally is one of the most popular on the regional road rally calendar and I'd like to thank everyone who works so hard to make it a success

"In addition, I'd particularly like to thanks all the residents and land owners along the rally route for the co-operation and support they offer us every year.

"Without them, we simply couldn't put on the event we do."
