Herefordshire Business News: County businesses scoop Heart of England awards

HEREFORDSHIRE businesses have won accolades from the Heart of England.

Six county food and drink businesses have scooped them as part of its fine foods diamond awards, beating competition from across the West Midlands.

Just Rachel Quality Desserts in Ledbury, won the dairy category for its honeycomb ice cream, and then beat the winning product from the other nine categories to scoop the special diamond taste award.

Rachel Hicks, of Just Rachel Quality Desserts, said: “I’m so happy to have won both of these awards, especially when the standard of the shortlisted products was so high.”

Cake Aspirations, from Ross-on-Wye, won the bakery and confectionery diamond award for its vanilla fudge.

Lodge Farm Kitchen, also of Ross-on-Wye, won the desserts category, for its sticky toffee pudding and Jus, from Ledbury, won the soft drinks category for its cox orange pippin juice.

Legges of Bromyard won the best retailer diamond award and The Mill Race, Ross-on-Wye, won the best hospitality diamond award.

All the products were tested by more than 60 judges at a two day judging session in February at Shropshire Food Enterprise Centre.
