SHOPS and businesses in Ross-on-Wye are in training for the upcoming Great Pancake Races.
This is an annual tradition that has been resurrected by the Association of Ross Traders (ART) which takes place through the town's streets on Tuesday February 21.
Richard Mayo, of Truffles Delicatessen and Pancake Races Trophy winner for the last two years, is under great pressure to make it three in a row, with David MacGregor, new chairman of ART, keen to claim the title.
“Anyone can enter as an individual, shop or business,” said Helen Kiddy from Essential Sewing Services, ART member and organiser of the Pancake Races.
“It costs just £1 per person to take part and all you have to do is bring your own frying pan.
“Races will take place throughout the afternoon in numerous categories with lots of races for children of all ages, organised after the local schools close for the day."
Shopkeepers, businesses and residents who would like to take part can get in touch with Helen on 01989 566406.
Entry forms are also be available at various places in the town including Essential Sewing Services, Tudor Sweets, Field Fayre and at www.shopinross.co.uk, the ART website.
