A CALL has been made for businesses in Herefordshire to have free advice about access to finance.
The Marches Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) says one in 10 small and medium sized businesses have struggled to access finance in the past year.
This has happened despite an agreement between the Government and the banks to ensure funding is available.
Dr Geoffrey Davies, chairman of the LEP, said: “Many businesses are turning to alternative methods of raising funds, with even large companies currently reporting they are having trouble accessing bank finance.”
The LEP is now calling for a Government-funded service to give micro and small businesses free and impartial advice about accessing finance.
