A HEREFORDSHIRE ice cream producer has won four gold stars with four of its entries at the Great Taste Awards.
Rowlestone Farmhouse Ice Cream won the awards at the event organised by The Guild of Fine Food. They are seen as a national benchmark and employ a rigorous judging system.
This year's awards attracted a record number of entries.
A total of 6,021 food and drink products were blind tasted, tested and discussed over two months of judging by 350 experts, including food writers, chefs, deli and farm shop owners, food producers and buyers.
Rowlestone Farmhouse Ice Cream’s mascarpone and caramelised pecan nuts, malt whiskey and orange marmalade, honey comb and raspberry sorbet won the awards which places the products among the country’s most highly rated.
Mary Williams, from the company, said: “We’re over the moon to win such accolades considering the fact we’ve only been in production three and a half years.”
The company is now in the running for the regional and national awards. The 2010 Supreme Champion Trophy winner will be announced at the final in London on September 6.
Products will be scrutinised by some of the country’s most revered chefs and food critics.
