A NEW business-boosting website for local artists has been launched.
Artisans in the Hills showcases a gallery of original Herefordshire artwork, enabling artists, craftspeople, tearooms and farm shops to promote their work to a wider audience.
The website also acts as a tourism guide, providing visitors with information about up-andcoming fairs, exhibitions and workshops.
With the official launch scheduled in autumn this year, each artisan who opens an online gallery with the site gets a variety of benefits, including web space, regional and UKwide marketing, support and training.
Those signing up before the official launch will also receive discounted membership.
Several artisans have already taken the plunge, including photographers, jewellery makers, woodworkers and metal workers.
Artisans in the Hills’ founder, Julia Pitkin, said: “We handle all the technical issues of managing a website and generating publicity so the artisan can continue doing what they are best at, creating skilled and beautifully artwork.”
Sarah Roberts, growth business development advisor for Woman in Rural Enterprise (WiRE), said: “We believe that Artisans in the Hills is going to be a real success and bring prosperity to the small and often remote rural UK businesses, and the creative entrepreneurs who by their talents and diversity provide us with choice and unique products and services.”
The website can be found at artisansinthehills.co.uk.
