HALO Leisure, the organisation behind Herefordshire’s leisure centres, has been awarded the social enterprise mark.
This demonstrates that businesses are trading to benefit people and the planet and reinforces Halo’s commitment to customer service and community support.
Jon Argent, chief executive at Halo Leisure, said the social enterprise mark means everytime someone uses the company’s leisure centres and services they are effectively investing back into the community.
Peter Holbrook, chief executive of Social Enterprise Coalition, said the mark was awarded to businesses which demonstrate they are working primarily for social and environmental goals with 50 per cent of their profits reinvested towards them.
“I hope that this is just the start and it becomes a badge synonymous with trading for more than profit,” he said.
Halo Leisure operates nine centres in the county with more than 1.6 million customer visits every year.
