DELIVERING regeneration will be the main topic at this year’s Rural Regeneration Zone (RRZ) annual conference.

The event will look at how the zone is driving forward Herefordshire’s emergence from the downturn and the challenges arising from a new political landscape.

There will be an announcement on broadband provision and speakers debating the issues will include Advantage West Midlands chairman Sir Roy McNulty and Jon Dover from Care Farming West Midlands.

Peter Pawsey, chairman of the RRZ, said: “We said in 2009 that we needed to be the catalyst for change and, despite a year of tough trading conditions and restrictions on funding, we have once again continued to drive regeneration in Herefordshire.

“The conference will give us a chance to reflect, but importantly help inform our future strategy as we enter another period of change with a new government, the expected cuts in public sector spending and initial signs we are emerging from the downturn.”

The event will feature a question and answer session, an exhibition of support providers and an ideas wall to collect key issues. There will also be four videos showing funded projects such as digital media training for the local community.

The AWM-funded RRZ covers Herefordshire, Shropshire and parts of Worcestershire. It delivers programmes to encourage enterprise, skills and growth in environmental technologies.

Admission to the event, at Ludlow Racecourse tomorrow (Friday), is free but spaces are limited. To confirm attendance, call 0845 604 7780.
