A CARE home near Ledbury has been recognised for its end-oflife care at an awards ceremony in London.

More than 1,000 care homes have embarked on the National Gold Standards Framework for Care Homes training programme (GSFCH). This is a national programme designed to enable quality care in homes for people nearing the end of their lives.

Stanley House in Bosbury was one of only five to be awarded beacon status among the 35 homes recognised at the ceremony.

“We hoped that we would receive Gold Standard Framework accreditation, but receiving beacon home status really was the icing on the cake,” said Cathy Yeates, manager of Stanley House.

“It has been a lot of work but definitely worth the effort. The award is a seal of approval, confirming that we operate to the highest standards in end-oflife care.”

In total 112 homes have now been accredited by the GSFCH.

This aims for gold standard care to be provided, enabling residents to receive a better quality of care in their final years of life.
