Don’t get left behind in race for the Olympic Games

HEREFORDSHIRE businesses found out how to win contracts for the London Olympics and Paralympic Games at an event at the Royal National College for the Blind in Hereford.

The event, hosted by Hereford and Worcester Chamber of Commerce, offered advice on securing contracts available offering new business opportunities.

More than 45 local companies attended to learn more about the tendering process to maximise their chances of winning contracts.

Speakers at the event, funded by Advantage West Midlands, included Phil Gray, managing director of Commercial Doctor, which helps companies win business.

Other speakers included Tony Larkin, coach of the England Blind football team, and Sarah Mullineaux from Deloitte, a sponsor of the 2012 Olympics.

Alison Holmes, from Reprodux Design and Print in Hereford, said: “The workshop was excellent and gave valuable insight into the support available for Olympic tendering, especially for smaller companies like Reprodux.

“It’s essential that businesses in the local area are aware of the opportunities available to them.”

Business people were trained on the use of CompeteFor, a free service that enables companies to find contract opportunities linked to the Olympics and major organisations.

Another workshop will be held in Hereford on Friday September 17.
