TWO Herefordshire high streets are in for a makeover following moves by Herefordshire Council to enhance the physical appearance of shops and businesses in the county.

A shopfront grant scheme offering firms up to £5,000 to improve premises externally in Hereford and Kington has been arranged through Advantage West Midlands’ Better Welcome initiative – which supports maintenance and the revival of original or historic features – and Hereford City Partnership.

Businesses other than banks, building societies, regional or national firms, private houses and pubs under tenancy are eligible.

But they must apply to an independent panel by July 31 as funding for the scheme is limited.
