HEREFORDSHIRE-based architects behind a number of county projects have won an international award for sustainable energy.

Architype received an Ashden Award from Prince Charles last week together with £15,000 prize money for research and development.

The Upper Twyford company is currently working with Herefordshire Council on a new showcase library and information centre for Ledbury, an innovative business park in Ross-on-Wye, plus the new Staunton-on-Wye Primary School.

Herefordshire Council chose Architype to work on projects like the new Ledbury Library and Info Centre because of their creative and sustainable approach,” said Geoff Hughes, the council’s director for regeneration.

“We are delighted that the company, which puts the environment at the heart of design, has been recognised for those valuable attributes with an important international award too.”
