A HEREFORDSHIRE company is leading the way despite the harsh economic climate.
Prometheus Medical Ltd, based in Hope-under-Dinmore, has been announced as the regional winner of the most promising new business award in the West Midlands in this year’s Chamber of Commerce awards.
The company, which is a member of the Herefordshire and Worcestershire Chamber of Commerce, provides emergency medical support through training, equipment, deployable medical capability and expert advice.
It won the BT-sponsored award because the judges were impressed by the way that the company had identified a gap in the market for specialist emergency medical support and noted their competitive advantage due to having real specialist knowledge.
Dr Malcolm Russell, managing director of Prometheus, said: “It’s a great honour for Prometheus Medical Ltd to win this prestigious award, which is all down to the hard work, enthusiasm and professionalism of our staff.
“Our Hereford-based team has taken this company to a market-leading position in the space of two years and we are very grateful for the recognition that this award represents.”
Mick Hegarty, marketing director of BT Business, said: “This is a superb example of how new business can still thrive and prosper in the current climate.
“We are delighted that Prometheus Medical Ltd has had so much success and continues to show much promise.
“It just shows how much can be achieved when you professionally plan and deliver that great business idea.”
The company will now go through to national judging and the chance to win the top prize of £50,000.
The national winners will be announced at a gala dinner at the Natural History Museum in London on November 27.
l As the credit crisis hits businesses around the world, a Leominster company is reporting a bumper month of export sales.
Snap-Drape Group, the hospitality textile and furniture supplier, has received orders valued at more than £1 million in the past four weeks.
The deals came as a result of negotiations carried out over the past 12 months and take the firm’s export sales for the year to £2.5 million.
Recent orders from countries including west Africa and Belgium mean the production department at Snap-Drape is looking at producing more than 6,000 chairs, 90 stage units and 900 lightweight tables before deliveries start in December.
