THE setting was ideal for Ledbury Community Brass Band's first summer concert. A balmy evening at the Feathers Hotel, Ledbury, set the scene for a truly wonderful concert on July 17.

The concert proivided the opportunity for Colin Herbert, band director, to play an almost new programme of marches, medleys and show tunes with hightlights such as Starlake, Highland Cathedral, Floral Dance and Singin in the Rain, a slighly tongue in cheek performance as for once the British weather was glorious.

The finishing piece was an energetic performance by the band of Hootenany including the Chicken Reel, I'm On My Way and Down by the Riverside which had audience up on their feet, dancing and clapping along. Such a toe tapping number damanded an encore of fantastic fun culminating with the whole band up on their feet whilst playing.

The performance was a wonderful piece of entertainment by Ledbury's own band. The band were overwhelmed by the support received from the Feathers Hotel and the audience, both in numbers and the generous contributions received towards the imrportant funds.

The evening was thoroughly enjoyed by all and thanks to everyone for making the evening such a success.

The band will be playing at the Ledbury Carnival on August 29, another 'first', where there will also be running a tombola stall. And don't forget the Christmas Concert at the Market Theatre, Ledbury on December 18.
