HEREFORD is set to become a magnet for Iyengar yoga students thanks to some entrepreneurial spirit – and a £74,000 grant from the Sport England Inspired Facilities grant scheme.
Jenny-May While has been practising Iyengar yoga for over 15 years and established Hereford Yoga CIC (Community Interest Company) last year.
She has seen an increased demand for industry-peak yoga tuition as more people look for an activity which benefits both the body and the mind, and identified a need for a bespoke setting.
Jenny-May has now secured premises at Number 10 Foley Trading Estate with a view to opening in early Spring 2016, thanks to the financial award which will pay for the building’s refurbishment.
The Hereford Yoga Institute, which will focus entirely on the Iyengar form of the discipline, will include space for up to 30 students in a specialised studio, changing facilities, a lounge reception area and a therapy room.
Iyengar Yoga is a systemised form of yoga which focuses on correct alignment and posture. Not just a physical approach to yoga, Iyengar uses the tangible, the body, to reach towards the intangible, the soul.
