THIS year Becky Wall and her husband Charles celebrate 10 successful years running the award-winning luxury mobile toilet company, A Plush Flush.

A member of Young Farmers, where she and Charles met, Becky Wall had, until 2001, provided mobile (though not luxury!) facilities for YFC and, as an events manager had good contacts, so she was the obvious person to ask for a recommendation for a wedding at which Charles was best man.

“The toilets were OK,” Becky recalls, “and I put a basket of goodies in and made them more presentable, but when we got back from the church, they stopped working!”

When repeated phone calls produced no results, a friend said to Charles and Becky: “Why don’t you go back into toilets – you can do better than this.”

“Within a week we had made the decision and within two weeks we had bought two trailer toilets,” says Becky, who knew from the outset that the company’s livery would be royal blue with the logo inside a silver oval.

“We couldn’t afford to buy new,” she explains, “And someone I knew told me they knew where there were two very good condition luxury trailers for sale. The only drawback was that they were in Glasgow, but the moment we drew into his yard and saw that they were royal blue with the logo in an oval, that told us all we needed to know.

“We bought the toilets, prettied them up and had the sign writing done before towing them home, and A Plush Flush emerged!”

Today, Becky and Charles run many big luxury trailers, providing facilities for weddings, parties, and events both corporate and private - including royal visits.

The couple’s scrupulous attention to detail and 24/7 service have seen the company win numerous awards. “I have very high standards,” says Becky, adding that those standards apply not only to the toilets themselves but to the entire process, including leaving the site as it’s found. “We pride ourselves on our presentation, including the addition of fresh flowers, frequently themed, and toiletries, as well as being scrupulous about delivery and removal and being on hand 24 hours a day if people need us.”

“As far as toilets are concerned, there can only be one answer – A Plush Flush. Not only are our guests delighted at the extremely high quality of what is provided – setting a whole new standard in mobile toilet provision – but we find the service totally professional, efficient and always delivered with a smile,” says John Handby, formerly of Caradoc Court, Ross-on-Wye.

“Because we do it all ourselves,” Becky says, “we know that it’s done and that if there is a problem it’s down to us.”

Becky, who also sits on many local committees and won the British Empire Medal for her services to charity, says she and Charles work very long days: “I am never happier than when I’m busy,” she says. “Charles and I come from farming backgrounds and I think that’s where we get our energy and drive from. We love what we do.”
