A HEREFORDSHIRE B&B is celebrating after scooping a trio of prizes.

Thatch Close Cottages, based at Llangrove, near Ross-on-Wye, is the first guesthouse in the West Midlands to receive an M3 rating by the National Accessibility Scheme for its access to disabled guests.

The award-winning Valley View – one of three cottages that make up the guest accommodation – includes a rise and fall kitchen, bedroom and bathroom surfaces with a wheelchair accessibly wet room.

Cider Cottage and Bramble’s Barn are also both rated M1 by the National Accessibility Scheme.

And owners, Edward and Marion Drzymalski, have extra reasons to celebrate after winning an iPad Air in a European draw.

They've also received confirmation that they will soon be connected an ultrafast broadband connection.

The business was one of 150 which completed a survey into the broadband access and consumption of small and medium-sized enterprises across Europe.

It was run by Herefordshire Council as part of its involvement in the CREATE (Connecting Rural Enterprise for a Transnational Economy) project.

The business was selected at random to be the winner of an iPad for its participation in the survey.

Their prize was delivered by Councillor Jenny Hyde who also praised the cottage's accessibility.

And Thatch Close Cottages will be one of many homes and businesses within the parish of Llangarron to benefit from the Fastershire project’s rollout – which will deliver a 100-fold increase in speeds across the parish this Spring.

Edward and Marian, owners, said: "Communication is key to maintaining and expanding a business and the improved broadband will provide a real boost to our area.

"The iPad was a wonderful surprise and we’d like to thank those involved in the Fastershire project for bringing superfast broadband to the parish of Llangarron.”

Herefordshire businesses who wish to take advantage of the services offered by the CREATE project, including the demonstration of new technologies, specialist support through expert advisors and access to e-guides providing IT-related business advice, should register their interest at fastershire.com/create
