THE owner of Herefordshire Care Homes has scooped a prestigious award.

Karen Rogers was noted for her “outstanding contribution to social care” at the Great British Care Awards.

Ms Rogers said she was delighted to receive the award.

Judges noted her tireless work over the last 30 years to improve the lives of older people through her belief that care homes can be great places to live.

She said it was an honour that her hard work and commitment had been recognised by the industry.

The event also saw Angela Staphnill, the group’s education and training officer, given the “care trainer award” for her “enthusiasm and determination” in identifying training and development needs of care staff within the group.

The award ceremony, held at the national motorcycle museum, pays tribute to outstanding companies and individuals in the care sector.

Herefordshire Care Homes curently runs Whitegates and Highwell House in Bromyard, Coldwells House in Holmer, Hereford, Charnwood Country Residence in Much Dewchurch and and Dulas Court in Ewyas Harold.
