THE Hereford office of Harrison Clark Rickerbys (HCR) has appointed former Rear Admiral Philip Wilcocks as a consultant to assist the firm with its role providing legal services to the defence and security industries.
Philip will assist the firm with technical and strategic advice and industry specific information.
"I am absolutely delighted by this appointment," said Richard Morgan, head of Hereford office for HCR.
"Defence and security is a pivotal sector of the local economy, and our increasing clientele and activities in this crucial industry will benefit enormously from Philip's immense experience and knowledge.
"With the rapid growth of our business in Hereford, we are now providing legal services to a substantial number of defence and security contractors, and we are extremely pleased to be able to call on such a wealth of information.
"Philip has served his country with immense distinction, and his record speaks for itself. He will be an invaluable asset to us in further strengthening our specialist service."
Mr Wilcocks is recognised as a combat proven flag officer, joint commander and naval officer.
During his naval career he served in the Falklands Campaign and the First Gulf War and was the crisis director for UK operations in Sierra Leone and the Indian Ocean Tsunami disaster.
He was also deputy joint commander for UK operations in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Mr Wilcocks retired from the navy in 2009 and is on the board of six SME companies.
