A LETTERPRESS printer is celebrating after being awarded £15,000 from the Queen Elizabeth Scholarship Trust (QEST).
Anneliese Appleby, from Pontshill, near Ross-on-Wye, was presented with the prize by Jenifer Emery, president of the Royal Warrant Holders Association, at the London Hilton Hotel.
Anneliese is an apprentice at Tilley Letterpress Printing in Ledbury and follows in the footsteps of proprietor Martin Clark.
Martin took over the business in 1983 after he was employed by the Tilley family as an apprentice at 15 and was told that letterpress printworks must be preserved.
He therefore took on Anneliese as an apprentice with the help of QEST, which will fund her scholarship.
Anneliese taught fine art printmaking for 10 years and undertook a masters degree in multidisciplinary printing at the University of the West of England in Bristol.
