BUDDING young entrepreneurs from two Herefordshire colleges have been competing against their counterparts from Worcestershire.
Potential business stars of the future from Herefordshire College of Technology and Hereford Sixth Form College competed against Worcestershire students in the second round of the national Young Enterprise competition at County Hall in Worcester, following the local Herefordshire final.
More than 100 14 to 18-year-olds from Herefordshire schools have taken part in the Young Enterprise Company Programme this year, setting up a total of nine businesses with help from local business volunteers.
Kirsty Sockett, Young Enterprise manager for Herefordshire, said: “The students had to showcase the products they had developed during the past year and were grilled by an expert panel of judges who scrutinised their business reports and profit margins.
"They also had to deliver a four minute presentation to a large audience of business leaders, teachers and other invited guests.”
Young Enterprise believes young people learn by doing and over the years countless individuals have been inspired to start their own businesses after participating in its company programme.
