When I interviewed comedian, Jo Brand, I didn't escape the contempt she clearly showed for the tabloid press - it was one of the first things she mentioned - but was rather hoping she'd have a more generous attitude towards us provincial journalists.
AS I was walking through Hereford on Saturday a lady handed me a leaflet that said it was too late to repent and the end had now come. Bible prophesy was coming true and that we'd all pay for our sins - the global credit crisis was in fact, the signs of the end of the world.
I've just returned from a really lovely holiday in Austria. We decided to fly into Bratislava as we managed to get a cheap flight and because there was suppose to be a regular and easy route into Vienna. It turned out to be not so regularly, we had to get a taxi to the train station which involved meeting a taxi driver and a few people from the town but although they weren't particularly friendly and the taxi driver charged quite a sum, we didn't much bother.
Every now and then you meet someone who makes you feel grateful for everything you have but I can’t help thinking that it’s sad we have to be reminded to be grateful.
When my dog, Fee Bee died last March I lost not just a pet but a really good friend. She got sick and her death was made no easier by the fact that I had to make the decision to have her put to sleep. I’m told that ten and a half was a good age for a German Shepherd but as odd as it seems, in my heart I thought we would be together forever.
I recently met actress Virginia McKenna who many know for her connection with the Herefordshire museum for Violette Szabo and who played the part of Violette in the film ‘They Carved Her Name With Pride’.
THE Herefordshire Country Fair is in its 29th year and attracts more than 8,000 people who all help to raise money for local charities.
IT’S always a privilege to talk to people or learn about people who’s lives have inspired or affected others. When Mark Preece from Belmont died last February from meningitis at the age of 42 his family and friends were shocked by the suddenness of his death.
Although I've lived in Herefordshire for 13 years now, I have always worked out of the county so this is the first time I've had the opportunity of living and working in the same place.
