LAST night myself and news editor Ian Morris were honoured to receive the High Sheriff’s certificate for our work on the Hereford Times safer driving campaign.
There are not too many times when journalists get recognised for their work so this was a very welcome occasion.
The ceremony, held at Hereford Town Hall, mostly honoured police officers for their work beyond the call of duty.
Many of them are at the sharp end when it comes to dealing with the unpleasant consequences of traffic accidents.
I’ve been working on an article, that will appear in a forthcoming edition of the Hereford Times, looking at what the police role is when an accident occurs.
It further emphasises the “ripple effect” of consequences caused by serious accidents that involves not only friends and families, but emergency services personnel as well.
I would like to thank the police for asking us and we will be covering the event shortly in the Hereford Times.
