ADVANCED driving really works – I now know this for a fact.

When driving last night I avoided a certain accident because of what I’ve learnt on my Herefordshire Advanced Motorists course.

One of the factors driven home is to be aware of traffic emerging from junctions.

This is especially important when the junction is hidden and the oncoming vehicles have very little chance to see you.

Bearing his in mind, I slowed down just before reaching a notorious one on my way home.

It was a good job I did because a car had emerged from the junction on to my side of the road.

Fortunately, I managed to swerve on to the other side of the road to avoid it.

I don’t attach any blame to the other driver as I know how difficult it is to see clearly from this particular junction.

But is just goes to show how important the advice provided on an advanced motoring course can be.

It certainly saved me being involved in a potentially nasty accident.
