CRIMINALS using Herefordshire's roads should have nowhere to hide with the use of high-tech equipment to scan vehicle number plates.
Automatic Number Plate Reading (ANPR) equipment has been fitted to some of the area’s patrol cars to enable officers to scan the number plates of passing vehicles.
Not only should this be a vital tool in the fight against crime it should also make our roads safer.
Many of the vehicles associated with crime are found to be untaxed, uninsured and unroadworthy by police.
One also suspects they will be driven in an irresponsible fashion as well, so the use of this equipment should be positive news for motorists across the county.
To find out more about this latest technology see the Hereford Times available on Thursday (July 24).
