When I was given the opportunity to join Halo through the Hereford Times I jumped at the chance after Christmas over indulgence and the prospect of spring looming and having to shed the jumpers
I’d been hiding under.
I was in for my first meeting with Kelly to explain about the membership and booked in for my kickstart 1 & 2 appointment with Sue within just two days, so I didn’t have any time to change
my mind. I found the kickstart 1 & 2 really useful as this is where my goals were set and my dreaded measurements taken! Although the measurements were optional, I thought they would be a good
way of keeping track of my progress and keeping myself motivated. My weight was 60.5kg and we decided that I could afford to lose a little bit, but my main aims are to do some serious toning and to
improve my fitness. After having two children my stomach muscles could really do with tightening up and flattening, also I worry about all the other usual things like flabby arms, thighs and bottom
too.
The only regular exercise I’ve been doing up until now is dance classes. This is something I’ve always done since I was a child, which is very good for flexibility and deportment ( and
brilliant fun too!) but I’ve always felt that my fitness leaves a lot to be desired. Sue was really friendly and helpful. She set me some realistic goals and a nice workout from which she is
promising me some all important results! I was told that I need to do the workout 2-3 times a week and I’ve been recommended some good classes from their enormous timetable. I think I’ll
try and attend some of the classes, as there is such a huge range and they are all included in the membership too!
Anyway, at the moment I’m feeling really motivated and can’t wait to get started…I’m also thinking that it might be a good excuse to treat myself to some new gym
kit!
THE 21st Hay Literary Festival starts on May 22 and booking has opened for an exciting fortnight...
THE Music Pool, Hereford’s community music charity, is hosting a special public event aimed at anyone wanting to discover the pleasure of singing – a day of singing exercises, games, harmony singing and songs from around the world will be led by nationally acclaimed Sue Hollingworth of the Voices Foundation.
A VISIT by the creator of Inspector Morse, Colin Dexter, will be one of the highlights of the 2008 Leominster Festival, which runs from Friday, May 30, to Sunday, June 8, and this year promises something for everyone.
THE internationally renowned identical twin sisters Antoinette and Claire Cann will be performing a sparkling programme of piano duets at St John the Baptist Church, Aymestrey, near Leominster on Saturday, May 24, at 7.30pm. Antoinette and Claire first played the piano when they were three years old, picking out tunes on the family piano. “The first thing we picked out was the theme to Listen with Mother.” Starting lessons was apparently the only time the pair were at odds about their playing. “Toni was very keen to go,” says Claire. “But at the time, Claire was shy,” adds Antoinette.
