As you have all probably already read

Sue is leaving her post of Chairman of Hereford Stars.

This was greeted tearfully by me earlier this evening.

Sue has been a major asset to the Committee as her ability to talk people into giving prizes etc is 2nd to none - that woman could sell ice to eskimos!

unfortunately she has been a bit of a victim of her own success in that way ; as our event ended up with so many prizes that more and more ways of winning them had to be added, which also caused more work for both of us.
She gets so enthusiastic and involved she forgets to slow down and let the rest of us catch up! shes got fantastic energy.
but as she says Sue has an enormous amount of home committments in her life on top of her new job (which l think shes really enjoying - l hope so) and the fundraising too.
Alot of people outside of groups see events and think it is just the day itself, they dont always realise the sheer amount of hard work that goes into preparing for the day.
I thanked Sue for her help on the day with a little posy of flowers, but l would like to repeat that THANKS to her and her family too now.

With a group like ours that is affiliated to Cancer Research UK we have to follow a rather large rule book to be allowed to use their name, equipment, logos etc, and this takes a lot of following, working closely with the Newport office, often on a weekly sometimes even daily basis.
I think all this rule following rather took the 'fun' out of it for Sue - and she would rather be back out 'selling tickets' and having fun, than doing the pen pushing. This l can fully appreciate, but unfortunately its a fact of life that these rules have to be followed - for our own safety as well as the charities - especially in this time of liability madness - if we want to represent this fantastic charity.

However, l do hope that she will continue after a well earned break to help in future events on the days, without all the commitment it involves - just come and do what you do best - talk to people and raise money, have fun!

Hereford Stars will hopefully continue though - Our co-ordinator from Newport is coming down on Tuesday to help sort the paperwork to keep things going.
The Group itself should hopefully be able to continue in its current name / form as the vast majority of the paperwork is in my name, as the licenced promoter from before Sue and l met.

There will now be a vacancy though for the post of Chairman/person. If interested - and it can be split between two people (ie a couple, or best friends) as chair and vice chair, as long as your prepared to follow the rule books, please let me know either on here or by way of my email sarah.cook123@btinternet.com Love to Sue and keep in touch huni - love to your dad and the family too xxxxx
