WE DID IT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ok, l must calm down now!

We walked the Race for Life at Hereford Racecourse for the 1st time today, we did it in 59 minutes, in the POURING RAIN!!
it threw everything at us except hail and thunder and we were expecting that at any moment!

But would we do it again - To right - like a shot - (pref in dry though)

We got to go and talk to Wyvern Radio live on air! they spotted sues feather headdress in the crowd and wanted to know if she'd been doing rain dances!

So we ran down to talk to him, told him we were all from Costa Coffee, as to noisy and confusing to explain l work there and other 2 our regular customers!

He told the crowd we'd almost got our £1,000 EACH and we had a round of applause - it was Brill. Then they took photos of us for their web site (still dry at this point) it will be on www.wyvernfm.co.uk hopefully from tomorrow.

We did the warm up with all the other women, which was hilarious - it was raining hard and couldnt see leaders properly so trying to copy everyone else
we were all laughing so hard it was difficult not to topple over!

Then we were off!!!!!!!!!!! As we were walking to the Start line a man from ITV came up to us and said he would look out for us at finish as he wanted to talk to us.!!

Well the course was ok to start they'd laid chippings, but by time we got to the 2nd and 3rd km it was getting pretty muddy and we were all slightly off track trying to get to the driest parts.

We only had one problem - WELL I DID - if you do any event in the Rain
- DO NOT COLOUR YOUR HAIR WILL GEL !!! HA HA

It was running down my face, neck everywhere, my white tee shirt was half pink by the time l finished, l couldnt see out of my glasses!!

but all the ladies were brill, sue was telling me when l was dripping pink to much! and others were giving me dry tissues to mop up - the feeling of togetherness was great.

Tom my son met me 100metres before the finishing line with an old towel so l was able to dry the worst of the pink off before we met the itv bloke!

He asked us our names, and how much we raised and let us tell everyone we only need a bit more for our £1,000 each! Me and Sue need another £30 each and Flissy needs £60. It will be on the www.itv.com/central site again prob from tomorrow - look under Hereford Race for Life 2007.

Other than that it was Brilliant, and emotional all those back cards with who or why each person was doing the Race, be it for family, friends, themselves in some cases. Very Moving. They played music as we went round which kept the mood up despite the rain.

It was so muddy in places we thought we were going to loose our trainers you know the swelch noise when it tries to suck your shoes off - Yep we had that several times.

But the feeling as you approach that finishing line, as well as relief, was pride that you'd made it - especially in those conditions. Emotion at the sheer amount of women, and girls their with you, and the support of the men and families in the grand stands watching and supporting you with all their hearts.

My mum and dad got quite emotional about the whole thing. and l cant blame them really it was some experience.

At the end we were offered water - but l think we had enough of that stuff!
We were giving our medals for taking part and a little bag from tescos with lots of samples - bath gel, washing powder and an energy bar, which was quite nice - id of been happy with just the medal. Have never won anything like that before.

Our white tee-shirts were so wet we where very glad we had our number cards strategically placed on the fronts!! could have been embarrasing.
l dont think we had one dry item of clothing on!! not 1.

WILL WE DO IT NEXT YEAR - TO RIGHT WE WILL!!!!

So come on every one help me with those last few pounds to reach then my £1,000 target then we can give Cancer Research £3,000 for research into prevention, treatment and cure.

If everyone just donated a £1 on my donation site i would soon make it especially if gift aided.

The site is set up with Paypal which is safe, secure and can be use from ANYWHERE in the World!

Come on you can spare £1 surely to become a lifesafer - as that is what it means!
If you dont want to do it online - pop into Moss Bross in the Maylords Shopping Centre and pop a donation into my bucket on their counter - they always have the latest amount updates too.
