You might say we had an eggslosion at our house yesterday. I was a bit distracted doing some printing for the big RHS gathering of the Queens this weekend when I remembered I promised hubby that I would make him some egg salad for his sandwiches for work today. I ran downstairs, tossed a load of wash in and set 7 eggs to boil. Went back upstairs to the study to flip the pages over I was printing and then got totally caught up in doing something else and FORGOT the eggs. I don't know how much time had passed but when I heard a loud crash from downstairs, I went running. Oh my gosh. . .it tossed the lid off the pan across the worktop about 2 feet, the pan itself had been partially knocked off the gas burner and there was egg literally everywhere. And OH the smell. I got a window open and the extractor fan on and grabbed the broom and dust pan just to get a spot cleared on the floor so I could walk around the kitchen and clean it up. It was in the toaster, in the coffee maker, stuck to the extractor fan, up under the bottoms of the cupboard, on the walls behind the cooker and on the window; I found egg and shells some 6 feet away from the explosion half way across the room and then it occurred to me that I should look at the ceiling and what do you suppose I saw there? MORE EGGS. When I make a mess I make a big one! Today things are back to normal but I have no eggs to make egg salad so a trip to the market is called for. This time I will stay in the kitchen until they are cooked.
