Hi from soggy Belmont way. My goodness that snow was a surprise! Especially that 2nd lot that we weren't expecting at all. Seemed to have even caught the weatherman off guard. It was pretty when
it first settled though.
I grew up in North Eastern Ohio in the midwest, right up in the corner of the state on Lake Erie, one of the five great lakes in the USA. We had lake effect snows all through the winter and I
remember hopping out of bed early in the morning to turn the radio on, praying we'd get a snow day and get to go sledding and build snowmen or women whatever we chose. As an adult I moved to sunny,
tropical Florida to escape those cold winters so the snow we had last week brought back some fond memories. Okay, I vote that now that we've had snow, winter should be over and we can get on with
spring. My garden is calling out to me!
The Red Hat chapter here in Hereford was on the local BBC radio this week. That was a novel experience. Katie Johnson was the presenter and was very kind to us. I admit that I felt a bit intimidated
by the microphone but Katie made it all look so easy.
I was tickled too to see that my last blog had two comments, one from Canada and one from the states. I had sent the photo that the Hereford Times published with a few words about our chapter here to
the RHS headquarters in California. They do a weekly newsletter that goes out to chapters all over the world every week mentioned us and included the photo. So two fellow queens (that's what the
founders of each chapter are called)went and looked up the Hereford Times, found my blog and made their comments.
It's lovely to be making so many new friends. I know there are at least 2 more new faces coming to our next meeting. We have such a nice time just visiting and catching up with one another as well as
getting to know our new people. I am working on a theatre outing for next month so if anyone reads this has a connection with a coach company with a vehicle that could carry 25 ladies to Cheltenham
and back, please let me know. The one quote I got was very high and the other company I called despite having phoned them twice hasn't gotten back to me as yet.
Bye until next time. tony_cindi_read@btinternet.com
