Good morning everyone. . . we had our Red Hat Society meeting and dinner at The Green Dragon Hotel in Broad Street last night with one very welcomed surprise visitor. I had a phone call in the
afternoon from Nicola from the BBC who had read about our group of ladies on this very blog. . .hurray, someone is reading these things!!! She wanted to know more about our group and wanted to come
along and meet some of us for a possible story for the news. I certainly wouldn’t say no to more publicity especially since I’d love to help get some other chapters started in outlying
villages. I’ve had some interest from a few ladies in Leominster but have not found someone willing to take on the leadership.
Nicola brought to us an invitation to appear on Hereford Worcester BBC radio next week on Wednesday. We’ve accepted the invitation. Not sure how many of our ladies can get there but it’s
bound to be a good time.
I am happy to report that we had 17 in attendance though not for the entire meal and meeting as some had earlier commitments and arrived late. We had a lovely time getting to know our new ladies. We
discussed some events that are on the planning board for future, warmer months including the annual Red Hat Society convention what will take place in Colchester in October of this year. I let the
ladies know that I’ve registered our group with both the Courtyard Theatre here in Hereford and the Everyman Theatre in Cheltenham to allow us to get group discounts should we decide to go to a
performance at either place at a future time.
Should the BBC or Midlands decide to do this story, it might have the potential for the start of other chapters. I would be happy to assist in start up for new groups. I truly believe that being over
50 doesn’t need to be the beginning of the end of life. As women, we’ve just come into our own around age 50 and we are finally happy with ourselves. We no longer frantically diet or have
heavy responsibilities of little ones at home. This is a time for US; a time to have let down our hair and a good laugh. Through the years, we give so much of ourselves to children, to working on
making a marriage work as well as possibly working full-time outside of the home. We deserve something that’s just for us; something requires nothing more then having a good time. Join us if
you will. Cindi Read 01432 353171 or red_hat_society_of_hereford@hotmail.co.uk.
