Rosie, a dog abandoned in Hereford, should regain sight in both her eyes after animal lovers in Herefordshire raised the money to pay for a major operation.
The collie cross was dumped outside Holmer Vets in July. Cataracts had developed because her diabetes had been left untreated.
But this month, the brave canine underwent a £3,500 operation to have the cataracts removed at the Veterinary Eye Hospital in Marlbrook, near Leominster.
She is now on the road to recovery and has found a permanent home with foster carer Amanda Rosier.
“I can’t thank everyone enough,” said Amanda, whose daughter Nicole works at Holmer Vets.
“She’s such a super dog and people have been so generous.
Rosie will need check ups every three months but is already settling into her new home with Amanda, springer spaniel Harley and jack russell Titch.
In addition to donations from the public, Amanda and the RSPCA were able to pay for Rosie’s care after Phil Adams, senior partner at Holmer Vets in Roman Road, offered to reduced the cost of her diabetic care by 50 per cent.
