THE It's Our County group is celebrating after both its candidates came top in Hereford's St Nicholas by-election yesterday.
Anthony Powers 'powered' to victory in the Herefordshire Council poll, while Sue Boulter came top in the Hereford City Council one.
The by-election came about following the death of former Hereford Mayor Julie Wooward last month at the age of 50.
Julie is Sue's sister, but Sue said that, even though she didn't want to fill her shoes, she will be following in her footsteps.
"I am really looking forward to continuing my sister's great community work in the ward," she said.
On his victory, Anthony Powers said: "The big issues on the doorstep were building resilience into Herefordshire's economy, the council administration wasting huge amounts of public money on big projects they cannot deliver, arms length unaccountable organisations running our services for profit and a pragmatic approach to Hereford's congestion."
