A HEREFORD forensic investigator has been crowned police photographer of the year.

Chris Bestall won the award at a ceremony in Durham for his photo of Sergeant Nigel Hagan and his German Shepherd dog Logan.

“This is the first time I have entered the awards, so I was both surprsied and delighted to have won,” he said.

“The criteria for entering was quite open and the subject of the photograph could be about anything within a policing environment.

“We only had time to take about 16 pictures before Logan made it clear he’d had enough attention.

“Logan is a beautiful dog with a big personality and I wanted to portray him and Nigel as partners, not just a police dog and his handler.”
