NASA scientist to visit Rotherwas
PROFESSOR Garry Hunt took TV to furthest reaches of space, now he’s saying the sky’s the limit for Herefordshire business.
Rotherwas-based specialist Define Risk Solutions (DRS) has landed Professor Hunt as a keynote speaker for its series of seminars on the future for business in the county.
Allpay, one of the county’s business success stories of years is already on board. This week another joined the line-up - Kidwells Solicitors will host the first seminar on Thursday, October 18, at its new base in Rotherwas.
A second seminar is planned for December Backed by the Hereford Times , the seminars are to set a template by which business in the county can forge talent and develop careers for - and between - themselves rather than relying on the whims of outside influence.
DRS director Stuart Blake that Allpay and Kidwells represent strong examples of what can be achieved. Allpay, currently overseeing a £5 million expansion of its Whitestone operation, was little more than two chairs and a desk 16 years ago.
Though only founded in 2008, Kidwells has established itself as a major player in the county’s legal scene and reflects its ambitions in the all new HQ.
Mr Blake said Professor Hunt was confirmed as a speaker at one of the two seminars planned so far, with a CV seemingly tailored to Herefordshire’s future as an expert in the future of e-commerce with experience of working for - and advising - some of the world’s biggest companies.
Professor Hunt spent decades with NASA and the Jet Propulsion Laboratory(JPL) Pasadena, California, working on a range of projects associated with the exploration of the solar system and the astronaut programme. He was one of a tight knit team to develop a TV system for exploring the outer planets.
