Find out about fostering in Hereford today
8:30am Wednesday 19th September 2012 in News By Paul Broome
A HEREFORDSHIRE couple is encouraging other parents to consider fostering.
Lee and Steve Halford - who will be at an information event at Hereford’s Kindle Centre in Hereford to talk about fostering today (Wednesday) - would like others to follow their lead after they started looking after two girls.
Mum Lee said: “They have only lived with us since June, so it is early days, but everyone gets on really well.
“Our youngest daughter Emma is 21 and lives with us too.
“Like all families, we’ve had our ups and downs, but I’m definitely a ‘glass half full’ person, so you work things out.”
Steve said the family hit it off from the word go.
“We only met three times before they moved here but we clicked from the start and now it feels like they’ve been here for years. I’ve told them, it doesn’t matter what they do or say, they are here for good unless they want to leave.
“Whatever happens, you deal with things as a family and get through it.”
The Kindle Centre event has been organised by children’s charity Barnardo’s.
