Teenager saves neighbour's life after his arm is caught in farm machinery

AN 18-year-old girl is being credited with saving the life of a neighbour 15 years after he came to her rescue.

Neighbours have described how Daisy Powles was in her house in Catley, near Bosbury, when she heard screams coming from a neighbouring farmhouse.

The teenager heard the cries for help despite there being a field and a number of farm buildings separating the two properties.

It’s understood Daisy sprinted to the farm of Robert Turner, where, at about 11.30am last Friday, she discovered he had got his arm lodged in a mechanical hay baler.

Daisy, who attends a boarding school in Dorset, stayed calm and turned off the machinery before calling the emergency services. Mr Turner, thought to be in his 60s, was flown to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham. 

While he suffered what are believed to be serious injuries, hospital staff have described his condition on Tuesday as comfortable.

The accident comes 15 years after Robert saved Daisy’s life when she ran out of her house in the middle of the night and onto a dangerous road.

Robert, spotting something was wrong by the distress of his cattle in the field, saw three-year-old Daisy and pulled her off the road before any harm could come to her.
