Secret council debate over broadband contract
Herefordshire Council's cabinet will go into secret session to decide on the contract that kick-starts superfast broadband in the county.
Cabinet meets behind closed doors to make that decision at the council's Brockington HQ next Thursday.
Disclosure of "financial information" is cited as the reason for the secrecy over a decision that could define the future for the county.
The Borders Broadband project needs a telecommunications company - possibly working with a partner - to design, build and operate a wholesale broadband network in those parts of the county that don't - or won't - receive commercial investment.
Final tender submissions have been evaluated for coverage, cost, and long term viability over the past few weeks.
The government backed project is acknowledged as needing a "last mile" solution combining fibre-optic and wireless to reach remote communities.
