Nyree spoke to Ian Morgan after the race. "I don't think anyone can ask for much more than a personal best and having had a year out after having a baby. I am so proud of myself and I could not have done it without the support of everyone in Herefordshire, Halo, thePoint4 and my coaching Emma Patrick. I have to thank so many people."

6:32pm

I am just getting my breath back after a thrilling hour at the aquatics centre. Nyree was very disappointed with the time she returned four years ago. But she was smiling tonight after her 1:26.23. There's a fantastic crowd in here tonight and they're cheering the swimmers.

6:21pm

A huge cheer for Nyree as she receives her silver medal. She takes a deep breath. What a day it has been for her. She holds her medal up for the tv camera.

Messages of congratulations and support for Nyree Kindred have been coming in thick and fast on social network sites such as Twitter, with one woman, Caroline De'ath, calling Nyree 'one amazing lady, wife and mummy'.

Nyree is on her way to a gold medal in the Paralympics despite only having given birth to baby Ella in June 2011.

Nyree told the Hereford Times back in February last year: "My target is for London and that’s always been my aim. It’s going to be hard juggling the baby as well – but if we can do it then all the better.”

“I am still really keen to go to London. There’s nothing better than competing at home. I will work really hard to try to get there.

“If I don’t get there, then at least I will have tried.”

Nyree, baby Ella and husband Sascha, who will compete in the 100m breaststroke on Saturday, can rest easy having made it this far. Let's hope they can go all the way to gold.
