A MAN who drowned in a Herefordshire lake was only one week away from returning to his family in Poland.
Piotr Hutnik drowned on Lower Lulham Farm near Madley last Saturday evening after taking a boat out with a colleague, according to his employer, George Snell, who owns the farm.
The fire service said the 26-year-old went into the water and the alarm was raised when he failed to resurface. He was confirmed dead at the scene.
Piotr has been described as ‘pleasant, polite and hardworking’ by Mr Snell, owner of Lower Lulham Farm.
He said Piotr had worked for four years doing a variety of work around the farm.
Mr Snell added: “This was a tragic accident and we are deeply saddened by the loss.
“We are just devastated by this and are thinking of his family at this sad time.”
