Teenager injured by bicycle in accident at Bridge Sollars, Herefordshire

A TEENAGER has been injured by a bicycle while travelling in a car.

Emergency services, including the air Ambulance , were called to reports of a man unconscious beside the A438 at Bridge Sollars just after 5pm yesterday (Tues).

Murray MacGregor, press officer for West Midlands Ambulance Service, said: “The exact details of what happened were not clear. There were two cars at the scene but only one had been damaged.

“There were three teenagers in the first car which was damaged after having mounted a kerb.

“As well as the three people, the car also contained a bicycle which appears to have moved and struck the head of the man sitting in the rear of the car. "The teenager had a reduced level of consciousness. Due to this, the crews requested a doctor and the Midlands Air Ambulance from Cosford was sent.”

The victim was put in a neck collar and on to a spinal board for treatment for serious head injury before being airlifted to the Major Trauma Centre at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham.

The two others from the car were treated at the scene before being taken to Hereford County Hospital
