No Lords reform regrets for Jesse Norman

JESSE Norman MP has no regrets over leading the revolt that wrecked Lords reform even though it could cost him a ministerial position.

The MP for Hereford and South Herefordshire won’t be drawn on speculation over his future but says the revolt – which could also cost the Tories any chance of re-drawing parliamentary boundaries – was the right thing for the right reason.

"I am very pleased that the Government has decided to withdraw the Lords bill, it was a bad piece of legislation which would have undermined the constitution.

"The rest is politics," said Mr Norman.
